Jenny and I were traveling along State Road Highway 61 in Warrick County between Boonville and Lynnville, when I spied several old gas station signs peeking out from behind a house along the road.  Naturally, my curiosity made me pull over to check out the scene.  I opened the car door and, knowing that I was technically trespassing and may be shot at, I began walking along a driveway until I reached the back section of the property.

As I stood there snapping pictures, I began traveling back in time to a place in my boyhood, when these signs were prominent just about anywhere I traveled.  Oh, yes, I even remember when you could buy a gallon of gas for 25 to 30 cents.  Remember when gasoline stations had "gas wars" where they would try to outsell the other guy with lower prices, and stores were all closed on Sundays and families would take Sunday drives, whiling away the hours on a pleasant afternoon drive?  Ahhhh, those were the "good old days."

So, I wondered if I could find any old commercials from the past about these old gas station war horses, and here's what I found...
