Former Colt Ben Utecht Writes A Touching Song For His Daughters After Suffering Memory Loss Due To Multiple Concussions [Video]

Brain injuries and concussions are the top topics of discussion these days in the NFL and the issue gets bigger every day. Ben Utecht, a tight end for the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 when the Colts beat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI is dealing with his brain issues in a very unique and touching way. Utecht retired from football in 2009 at the age of 33 because of memory issues due to multiple concussions after only six seasons with the Colts and Bengals. He has since become an advocate for awareness about traumatic brain injuries and the devastating effects.

Utecht experienced those effects after retiring in the form of memory loss and other symptoms that actually made his daughter say she was sometimes afraid of her dad. Utecht never really thought much about the issue until it happened to him, which is almost always the case.

In addition to speaking to Congress about brain trauma and becoming a spokesman for the American Academy of Neurology and the American Brain Foundation, Utecht wanted to do something special for his family before it was too late, so he wrote and recorded a song for his wife and daughters in case he begins to forget them.

The song is called “You Will Always Be My Girls”, which you can hear in the below video.
