This past weekend was understandably jam-packed with genre goodness, with everything from the 'Game of Thrones' season 3 premiere to 'The Walking Dead' season 3 finale, but plenty was going on over at WonderCon in California as well. Another hot 2013 property we're looking forward to is TNT's 'Falling Skies' season 3, premiering June 9, so what did the cast and crew have to say of the third season? Get the scoop on 'Falling Skies' season 3 inside, plus check out the latest trailer!

TNT's 'Falling Skies' will have some major changes in store for season 3, according to the cast and crew at this past week's WonderCon panel (via IGN). TNT has yet to release a real trailer for the June 9 premiere, leaving us chomping at the bit to find out what happens after season 2 finale "A More Perfect Union," which ended on a mysterious new race of aliens descending on the 2nd Massachusetts with unknown intent.

Showrunner and producer Remi Aubuchon revealed that the new aliens (played by the Silver Surfer and Abe Sapien himself, Doug Jones) indeed want to help the humans against the Skitters, but that the humans won't give themselves entirely to that notion. Most displeased of all is John Pope (Colin Cunningham), who takes to running a bar in Charleston and grows increasingly frustrated with his passive role in things.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Mass. will also take part in a number of missions to retrieve more harnessed children, among them a new de-harnessed boy with whom Tom's son Ben (Connor Jessup) can interact and bond. The increasing desperation of the Skitters will also lead to the emergence of "Mega Mechs," a good deal more powerful than enemies the humans have faced before.

Most changed of all will be Hal Mason (Drew Roy), who was last seen to have a Skitter implant of some kind implanted in his body. Maggie (Sarah Sanguin Carter) will certainly observe changes in Hal's behavior, while Tom will be too busy tending to his newborn baby girl, and running Charleston to pay Hal much attention. Lourdes (Seychelle Gabriel) will also observe changes in Hal, having become a full-fledged doctor under Anne in the meantime.

Finally, Aubuchon confirmed that humans will begin using more alien technology over the course of 'Falling Skies' season 3, but that won't necessarily mean expansion upon other alien planets. However, some history to the Skitters will be brought to light, likely by the 2nd Massachusetts' new alien allies.

In addition to former ’7th Heaven’ star Stephen Collins‘ appearance as surviving US President Benjamin Hathaway, the third season of TNT’s alien actioner also boasts former ‘House‘ star Robert Sean Wilson as previously unseen Charleston power-grid moderator Dr. Roger “The Rat King” Kadar, and Noah Wyle’s former ‘E.R.’ co-star Gloria Reuben as Marina Perlata, member of the resistance and aide to Tom Mason.

Well, what say you? Are you interested to see what happens to the human race for 'Falling Skies' season 3? Stay tuned for the latest on the June 9 premiere, check out a teaser preview below, and give us your opinion in the comments!
