Professional golfer and Evansville native Jeff Overton faces three misdemeanor charges in Bloomington following an altercation with police and the public over the weekend. Police say Overton was yelling at people on the street from a limo he was riding in...not once, but twice. The second time, right in front of police according to the report filed at headquarters. Overton was arrested Saturday morning and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. He posted $500 bond later that day and was released. The professional golfer, who's earned a little more than $8 million since he turned pro in 2005...was in Bloomington last weekend to present a check to the University during the IU/UK game, This is not the first time Overton, a graduate of North High School, has been in trouble with the law in Bloomington. Overton was arrested there in December 2007, for public intoxication (later dismissed when he enrolled in a pre-trial diversion program) He was also charged with illegal consumption of alcohol in October 2001 and June 2003. Both of those charges were also dismissed when he completed pre-trial diversion programs and paid fines. He told the Bloomington Times-Herald he plans on letting his lawyer handle this round of charges.
