The departure of Guilaume Lepine to the Binghamton Senators temporarily left the Evansville IceMen without a team captain, until now.

We asked Coach Sims during our weekly discussion on Wednesday about the absence of a team captain, and whether or not they had made a decision on who would fill the role. Coach told us they had come to the decision that forward Patrick Kennedy had proven himself worthy of wearing the patch adding, “I think he’s (Kennedy) the right man to be that voice in the locker room and echo my message to the team. He wanted to be the captain and he is excited to wear that ‘C.”

This season marks Kennedy's third with the IceMen, and his first wearing the "C". In 19 games this season, he's scored eight goals, including one in each of his last six games, and racked up 11 assists.

In other IceMen news, the team has released forwards Mark Anthoine and Jordan Sims. Both players appeared in two games for the IceMen over the weekend.

The IceMen hit the road for the first two of their three games this weekend making their way to Cincinnati on Friday to face the Cyclones, then traveling north to Indianapolis for a game against the Fuel on Saturday night. They return home to the Ford Center on Sunday night to host the Fuel. Coverage of Friday and Saturday's games begins at 6:20pm each night on ESPN Evansville 105.3, and online at ESPNevansville.com.

Sunday's game will be Subway Sunday at the Ford Center where fans can get a ticket, a t-shirt, a popcorn, and a soda for just $19. To book your Subway Sunday package, call an IceMen ticket representative at 812-421-GOAL. Coverage on ESPN Evansville 105.3 as well as online begins at 7pm.
