There may be evil lurching somewhere in the darkness, but there is nothing ghastly about free comic books.

Comic book stores across Evansville are gearing up for the 12th annual nationwide celebration happening this Saturday known as Free Comic Book Day. It’s the one day a year where publishers offer a wide variety of popular comic book titles, including ‘Batman’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ absolutely free.

And to lend to the excitement of being hooked up with a bunch of free comics, some local stores plan to have costumed characters hanging around, as well as up-and-coming local comics and artists.

You can celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the following Evansville locations:

Comics Unlimited: Free comic books from 9am until 7pm. For more details, click here.

Comic Quest: Free comic books 10 am until 10pm. For more details, click here.

The Book Broker:  Free comic books from 10am until 10pm or while supplies last. For more information, click here.
