Evansville Boy’s Giving Spirit Leads To National Spotlight

Chucky WIlliams' big heart had led him to be featured in a National commercial for Glad! Chucky who is 13 years old has turned something tragic into some great for his community!

What started with the loss of his father has turned into an opportunity to help other kids in his community. According to his mom Rachel, after losing his father to cancer several years ago, Chucky took that heartache and turned it into a mission to help others.

It was at the end of the 7th Annual 911 Gives Hope For The Holidays last year that Chucky knew what his next mission would be, he wanted to help collect toys for the next year's toy drive. He started with his own money, buying toys when there were great deals and then that turned into him setting up several small toy drives and benefits. About six months into his mission to collect toys, he inspired his friend Kameryn to join in and help collect toys!

Since the beginning of the year, Chucky and Kameryn have collected thousands of toys to be donated back to area hospitals to make sure anytime a child is in the hospital they have a new toy!

Then in September of this year, Chucky saw that the GLAD company was looking for kids who were helping their communities in a big way. Chucky wrote to the company and explained what he had been doing for the 911 Gives Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive!

Representations with the GLAD company were so impressed with Chucky's work that they decided to feature Chucky and his story in a documentary style nationwide commercial. They are hoping that Chucky's story will inspire other kids to give back to their communities!

On Monday, film crews with GLAD will be in town to record and tell Chucky's story. If you want to help with Chucky's mission, you can donate a new toy or toys during the 8th Annual 911 Gives Hope For the Holidays Toy Drive December 2nd-4th.
