How well can you work together with friends, family, or co-workers to escape a room when time is of the essence? Your chance to find out starts Monday when Escape Evansville opens it's doors to the those looking to test their puzzle-solving skills, and patience with others.

I first heard of this concept after stumbling upon the show, Race to Escape on Science Channel. On the show, two teams are locked in identical rooms and must work together to escape using clues within the room. For example:

On Race, the two teams are competing for a cash prize, at Escape Evansville, it appears you're competing for pride and a sense of accomplishment — and possibly the knowledge of knowing you can stay locked in a room with your friends for an hour without strangling them.

Escape Evansville offers four different scenarios for visitors to try and escape.

Pirates on the Ohio

In this room, you and your "shipmates" are prisoners on a pirate ship. Contestants must first escape their jail cell before finding a treasure map, and sneaking off the "boat" before the pirate captain discovers them.

Taken

A play on the popular Liam Neeson movie franchise, contestants are handcuffed in a locked room, and must find clues to set yourself free before your kidnapper discovers you're trying to escape.

Zombie Escape

You, your friends, and a live zombie are locked in room (stop me if you've heard this one before), and you have 60 minutes to find the cure before the zombie eats your sweet, delicious brain.

The Enchanted Library

In what appears to be the least "dire" scenario (no one is trying to kill you, or eat your brain), you and your team are tasked with finding the "Book of Enchantments" before time expires.

This looks like so much fun! I can't wait to try it out.

You'll find Escape Evansville at 600 North Weinbach Avenue, and can find out more about what will no doubt become a major attraction in Evansville on Facebook.

And of course, be sure to book your outing through their website!
