As you know, one of my very favorite Christmas specials is Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. It teaches the true meaning of the holiday season with some very catchy and heartfelt music. You can never go wrong with Muppets.

However, if you scan the internet you'll find some funny outtakes courtesy of The Jim Henson Company.

We see Alice Otter in both clips and it's important to note her voice wasn't dubbed in yet. Frank Oz (Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Yoda) was the muppeteer.

First up, Alice and Emmet watch the aftermath of the Riverbottom Nightmare Band's destruction of the local music store and well, the drum that rolls out the door...

Next, we have a few short outtakes, one with Emmet and Wendell and then Alice with Hetty Muskrat.

Did you know this year marks the 40th anniversary of the American premiere of the special? It first aired in Canada in December, 1977. It debuted on HBO on December 17, 1978. The special's soundtrack has been made available for the first time this year, on CD, streaming, and vinyl.

Now as far was seeing it, you'll probably still have to buy a copy on DVD. We have two copies in the family. I would say you'll see it streaming soon enough.
