Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke was joined today by Bob Warren from the Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau to give us an update on the downtown hotel project. We also talked with USI student Emily Ellison to recap the Global Youth Service Day over this past weekend. Now you can hear the whole show.

Mayor Winnecke recapped his meeting with the city council on Monday night and explained how much money Evansville would need to provide in order to finish the downtown hotel/convention center project. And Bob Warren discussed how much new revenue could be generated by this project, which, according to the CVB, could be as much as $13 million annually.

The first Global Youth Service Day was held over the weekend on Saturday. The event was paired up with Clean Evansville and, together, hundreds of young people came out to help pick up 1,000 lbs of trash. One of organizers, USI student Emily Ellison, told us more about the event and what to look forward to next year.
