One of the most anticipated new shows of the fall is finally here. GOTHAM makes its debut tonight at 7pm on FOX44! I was lucky enough to see an advance copy of tonight's episode (thank again Eric) and it does not disappoint.

For those who don't know, here's a reminder of what the new series is about. SPOILER ALERT:  It is NOT about Batman (much to my son's disappointment). The show focuses on a young Jim Gordon who is brand new to the Gotham City Police Department. He and his grizzled veteran partner find themselves handling the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne, young Bruce's parents. It is during the investigation that we start to learn more about some of the central characters.

Former teen heartthrob (I guess) Ben McKenzie (The O.C.) plays straight-laced Jim Gordon. His do-whatever-is-necessary partner is portrayed by versatile character actor Donal Logue (Vikings, Sons of Anarchy, Terriers). Looks like Jada Pinkett Smith (Madagascar, The Matrix Reloaded) will be the main baddy, at least for a while, as the sexy and deadly Fish Mooney.

Gotham also introduces us to younger versions of some of you favorite Batman nemeses (just learned that's the plural of nemesis) like The Penguin, The Riddler, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. I think they tried to sneak in another reference in tonight's episode, but I'm not gonna say who. One of the things I look forward to the most this season is seeing who else they tease us with.

If you're a fan of the Batman universe, you will like GOTHAM. My DVR is set for the season, so I'm in! You can see the first episode tonight at 7pm on FOX44. If you need more motivation, check out the trailer below.
