It Takes a Village Canine Rescue is full of amazing dogs with incredible stories...but it's hard to find a better, more heartwarming story than IVY's. This sweet girl has been at ITV for 583 days...and she finally has been adopted!

IVY is of Asian descent...a Jindo/Shiba Inu/Shar-Pei mix. She was rescued from the annual "Dog Meat Festival" in Yulin, China. That name is not some exaggeration or a cute play on words. It literally is what it says it is...10-day festival during which over 10,000 dogs are killed and eaten. In fact, this year's festival wraps up on June 30th. A nice bit of irony that IVY gets adopted during the very festival that would have surely killed her.

Are you interested in possibly adopting a dog? Every Thursday we introduce to a new Fursday Pet of the Week available for adoption at It Takes a Village. You are always more than welcome to just stop by ITV and spend some time with the dogs. Take 'em for a walk, play with 'em, see if there's one (or more) that would make a good fit for you and your family.
