Following the growing success of the 'Despicable Me' franchise, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are poised to make the upcoming spinoff flick, 'Minions,' the next big hit and have moved it into the already jam-packed year of 2015.

Originally dated for December 19, 2014, 'Minions' will now be released on July 10, 2015, according to Variety, pitting it against all the other hotly anticipated films opening that summer. Just to give you an idea of just how stacked that year is in terms of movies, here are some titles you might recognize coming around that time: 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' (May 1), 'Jurassic World' (June 12), 'Terminator 5' (June 26), 'Independence Day 2' (July 3), 'Batman vs. Superman' (July 17) and 'Ant-Man' (July 31). And that's not even the half of what we'll see throughout the year.

As far as 'Minions' itself, the 'Despicable Me' spinoff takes place in the 1960s where there are no more villains for these little Twinkie creatures left to serve. After attending a supervillain convention, however, they run into Scarlet Overkill, an Aubrey Hepburn-inspired character bent on becoming the first female supervillain and taking over the world, voiced by 'Gravity' star Sandra Bullock. In addition, 'Minions' will reveal that these lovelies have been around since the beginning of time, serving numerous villains.

'Despicable Me' and 'Despicable Me 2' are two of Universal's most prosperous properties, the first grossing more than $251 million domestic gross and its sequel grossing more than $358 million. Do you think 'Minions' will match the same success?
