Do you have a teen or pre-teen? Having a hard time talking about their changing bodies? This event is for you!

Deaconess Clinic, The Women’s Hospital and Project Reveal have partnered to offer Girl Talk & Guy Talk to preteens and their parents/guardians.  Presenters will include OB/GYN physicians, family medicine physicians, pediatricians and child/teen psychologists.

Topics will include:

  • physical changes to expect—and when
  • how to manage changing feelings and emotions
  • tips on having important conversations through the teen years
  • survival tips for the whole family!

Parents / preteens will be in separate presentations after a brief welcome at 6:00.  Each program will include the opportunity to ask questions (anonymous written questions will be an option).

Registration is required (click on events above). Space is limited to the first 100 families for each event.  A meal is included in the event.

Girl Talk – for Parents and Daughters

(suggested ages 9-12)

Helping both parents and daughters navigate the road between girl and young woman. Girls will learn how to take care of their body, when to expect changes to take place, how to manage new emotions, and understand puberty a little better. Parents will also learn more about what changes their daughters are experiencing (and when), and will get tips on how to have important conversations in the coming years. Parents and daughters will be placed in separate groups. The physicians will answer questions, and anonymous/written questions will be an option.

Guy Talk – for Parents and Sons

Deaconess Clinic doctors will help parents and their sons learn what to expect in the coming years as boys move through puberty toward being adult men.  Topics to be covered include physical and emotional changes to expect, and how to deal with anger and other strong feelings. Parents will also learn more about how to have important conversations through the teen years.

Parents and sons will be placed in separate groups.  The physicians will answer questions, and anonymous/written questions will be an option.
