CVS To Make A Big Change Earlier Than Expected – No More Tobacco Sales
Earlier in the year, CVS, the nation's second biggest drugstore chain, announced it would stop selling tobacco products in it's stores beginning October 1st. The move was announced after the company decided to focus more on customer health and the idea of selling tobacco was counter to that notion. As of today, CVS is no longer selling tobacco products in any of their stores, almost a month earlier than expected. They will also be changing their name from CVS Caremark to CVS Health even though the roughly 7,700 store signs will not change, at least not immediately.
CVS will continue to sell products to help people quit the tobacco habit. Drugstore chains have been criticized in recent years for selling tobacco products alongside the products that are supposed improve one's health and tobacco is clearly a detriment to a person's health and well-being.
