The Indianapolis Colts announced earlier that their new head coach Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with a "serious illness" that would require him to miss some time on the sidelines. In a recent press conference, Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that the illness was indeed leukemia.

Pagano had been feeling unusually fatigued recently...so much so that he felt the need to get some blood work done during the bye week. While this is certainly a serious illness, all those involved have stated they are very positive about the outcome.

So Pagano will obviously have to miss some time with the Colts in order to get the necessary treatments started. Pagano's doctor says the treatment will be a long process and they will take it one step at a time. The initial treatment will last approximately 4-6 weeks and will include chemo-therapy sessions. He added that Pagano has a form of "favorable" leukemia, which leaves all involved optomistic that the coach will make a full recovery.

This will obviously be an ongoing and ever changing story. We will do our best to keep you updated to the coach's condition.
