Clean Evansville volunteers will target areas around one of the city’s busiest traffic interchanges during the monthly litter pick-up on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. The “Clean Teams” will gather at locations near the Lloyd Expressway and U.S. 41 to collect litter along service roads and through some neighborhoods south and west of the interchange.

Team 1 will be led by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and David Herrenbruck from Fifth Third Bank. Team 1 will start at the intersection of East Franklin and Canal streets. Team 2 will be led by First Lady Carol McClintock and Ann Ennis from Ruth’s House. Team 2 will start at the intersection of South Kerth Avenue and Sycamore Street. Team 3 will be led by Clean Evansville committee chair Timothy Weir from Accuride. Team 3 will also start at the intersection of East Franklin and Canal streets.

The teams will move from the interchange west toward Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd. They will meet at the parking lot behind the Civic Center adjacent to the CK Newsome Community Center to deposit trash collected during the clean-up. Clean Evansville partner Allied Waste will haul the trash to the landfill.

Keep Evansville Beautiful coordinates volunteers for the monthly clean-ups. Anyone interested in joining or forming a team should contact Mike McGarrah at 425-4461.
