Evansville City Councilman Dan Adams convinced a majority of council members to order a financial review of records related to Ford Center construction accounts.

Administration officials noted that the State Board of Accounts is already conducting an audit of those records they requested late last year.

Adams made the request based on public feedback and rumors of problems in the construction accounts. The council voted 7-2 to take bids for what Adams calls “a forensic review of the city’s capital fund. Council members Missy Mosby, D-2nd Ward, and Jonathan Weaver, D-At-large voted no.

Council Finance Chairman John Friend said that he’s heard the same rumors and wants a review from an outside entity.

The concerns from the council are strictly focused on the $127 million construction costs to build the Ford Center and not the operating costs since the facility opened.
