Celebrities We Lost In 2016

The world lost amazing musicians, fantastic actors, some of the greatest athletes of all time, and larger-than-life political figures in 2016. Here is the list of celebrities we lost this year.

January 6th- Pat Harrington Jr. known as Dwayne Schneider, the cocky handyman on the long-running sitcom One Day at a Time, dies at 86.

January 10th- Legendary singer/actor, David Bowie passes away at age 69.

January 14th- Alan Rickman from Die Hard and the Harry Potter movies died of cancer at 69.

January 14th- Celine Dion's husband and manager Rene Angelil, dies at 73.

January 15th- Grizzly Adams star Dan Haggerty lost a battle with spinal cancer.  He was 74.

January 18th- Glenn Frey from the Eagles died from various health issues.  He was 67.

January 26th- Barney Miller superstar Abe Vigoda passes away at 94.

January 28th- The founding member of Jefferson Airplane and leader of successor group Jefferson Starship, Paul Kantner, dies at 74.

February 4th- Voice actor best known for portraying Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other beloved Looney Tunes characters, Joe Alaskey, passes away at 63.

February 4th- Maurice White from Earth, Wind and Fire died at the age of 74.

February 4th- BMX legend, Dave Mirra, dies at 41.

February 4th- The Apollo 14 astronaut who became the sixth man on the moon when he and Alan Shepard helped NASA recover from Apollo 13's "successful failure," Edgar Mitchell, dies at 85.

February 13th- An influential conservative and most provocative member of the U.S. Supreme Court, Antonin Scalia, dies at 79.

February 15th-  Actor known for his roles in Punky Brewster, Police Academy, and Tootsie, George Gaynes, dies at 89.

February 15th- Prince's protégé Vanity died from kidney failure at 57.

February 16th- The veteran Egyptian diplomat who helped negotiate his country's landmark peace deal with Israel but clashed with the U.S. when he served a single term as U.N. secretary-general, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, dies at 93.

February 19th- Angela "Big Ang" Raiola, the raspy-voiced bar owner who gained fame on the reality TV series Mob Wives, dies at 55.

February 19th- "To Kill a Mockingbird" author Harper Lee passed away at 89.

February 19th-  Best-selling author of the historical novel "The Name of the Rose," Umberto Eco, dies at 84.

February 22nd- Country artist, Sonny James, who recorded romantic ballads like "Young Love" and turned pop songs into country hits, dies at 87.

February 25- Tony Burton, who played Apollo Creed's inspirational boxing trainer in the Rocky franchise, passes away at 78.

February 28th- Cool Hand Luke actor, George Kennedy, dies at 91.

March 1st- American Gladiators star known as "Hawk," Lee Reherman, dies at 49.

March 4th- Country singer Joey Feek died from cancer at 40.

March 4th- The author of "The Great Santini," ''The Prince of Tides" and other best-sellers, Pat Conroy, passes away at 70.

March 6th- Former First Lady Nancy Reagan passed away at the age of 94.

March 8th- Legendary Beatles producer George Martin went to be with John and George.  He was 90.

March 11th- The founder and keyboardist of the progressive-rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Keith Emerson passes away at 71.

March 16th- Frank Sinatra Jr., dies at 72,

March 22nd- Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest passed away after a long battle with Type 1 diabetes.  He was just 45.

March 22nd- Rob Ford, the former mayor of Toronto dies at 46.

March 23rd- Joe Garagiola, the former former TODAY anchor and baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and New York Giants, dies at 90.

March 24th- Comedian and actor, Garry Shandling was only 66 when he died of a heart attack.

March 26th- "Legends of the Fall" author, Jim Harrison, dies at 78.

March 27th- Mother Mary Angelica, the folksy Roman Catholic nun who used a monastery garage to begin the Catholic TV powerhouse EWTN, dies at 92.

March 29th- Actress Patty Duke succumbed to a ruptured intestine at the age of 69.

April 3rd- Erik Bauersfeld, turned three words from a minor acting role — "It's a trap!" — into one of the most beloved lines of the Star Wars series, died at age 93.

April 6th- Country legend Merle Haggard died of pneumonia on his 79th birthday.

April 12th- Music producer, reality TV star and former husband of Liza Minnelli, David Gest, died at 62.

April 17th . . . Doris Roberts from Everybody Loves Raymond died of natural causes at 90.

April 20th-Former WWE superstar, Chyna passed at the age of 45.

April 21st- Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate at the age of 57.

May 19th- Mr. Ed star Alan Young died at the age of 96.

May 21st-  The former drummer for the metal band Megadeth, Nick Menza, died at 51.

June 3rd . . . After more than 30 years of fighting Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali passed away at 74.

June 6th- The street fighter who parlayed his Internet popularity into a mixed martial arts career,Kimbo Slice, died at 42.

June 6th- The Raging Bull actress, Theresa Saldana passed away at 61.

June 10th- Former constant on The Voice, Christina Grimmie, was killed after a concert at the age of 22.

June 17th- The man who played "Billy Bob" in the film Varsity Blues, Ron Lester passed away at age 45.

June 19th- Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov in the new Star Trek movies, died in a freak accident in his own driveway, when his Jeep pinned him against a gate.  He was only 27.

June 23- Bluegrass legend, Ralph Stanley passed away at age 89.

June 28th- Pat Summitt,, the winningest coach in Division I college basketball history during her 38-year career at Tennessee, died at age 64.

July 3rd- The first actress to play Lois Lane in the 1948 movie, Superman, Noel Neill, died at 95.

July 19th- Garry Marshall, the man behind Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, The Odd Couple, Mork and Mindy, Pretty Woman, and The Princess Diaries, passed away at the age of 81.

July 25th- Rev. Tim LaHaye, 90, the co-author of the "Left Behind" series, died at 90.

July 26th- Youree Del Cleomill Harris, better known as the Jamaican psychic Miss Cleo, in the TV infomercials and commercials, died at 53.

August 2nd- Character actor best known for portraying roles in The Big Lebowski and Santa Claus: The Movie, David Huddleston, died at 85.

August 13th . . . 3-foot-8 actor, Kenny Baker died at 81.  He was R2-D2 in the first six Star Wars movies.

August 19th- Lou Pearlman, 62, the band boy mogul who launched the hit groups Backstreet Boys and 'NSync but was later sentenced to prison for a $300 million Ponzi and bank fraud scheme, died at age 62.

August 20th- Matt Roberts, a guitarist and founding member of the rock band 3 Doors Down, passed away.

August 23rd- Actor Steven Hill, 94, who played grumpy District Attorney Adam Schiff on  Law & Order, died at 94.

August 29th- Gene Wilder, best known as Willy Wonka, left us at the age of 83.  He'd been retired for over a decade, and his family said he was battling Alzheimer's in his final years.

September 1st- The raspy-voiced actor who appeared in the movie Blankman, The Big Lebowski, and TV shows Modern Family, and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Jon Polito, died at 65.

September 2nd- The recording impresario who helped N.W.A. bring West Coast rap acts to worldwide fame, Jerry Heller, passed away at 75.

September 11th- Alexis Arquette, from the movie The Wedding Singer, died at 47

September 16th- W.P. Kinsella, the Canadian novelist who blended magical realism and baseball in the book that became the smash hit film Field of Dreams, died at 81.

September 24th- Actor, Bill Nunn, from films that include School Daze, Do the Right Thing, and the Spider-Man trilogy, died at  62

September 25th . . . Legendary golfer and beverage Arnold Palmer died at 87.

September 25th- 24-year-old Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident with two friends.

October 12th- Tommy Mykal Ford, best known for his role as Tommy on the hit '90s sitcom Martin, died at age 52.

October 23rd- Pete Burns from the '80s band Dead or Alive died of a heart attack at 57. Their biggest hit was "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)".

November 7th-Singer Leonard Cohen passed on at the age of 82.

November 7th- Former Attorney General Janet Reno at 78 after a battle with Parkinson's.

November 11th- The Man from U.N.C.L.E. himself, Robert Vaughan, died at 83.  He was also the last surviving member of the original "Magnificent Seven"

November 13th- Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell passed at 74.

November 14th- Country artist, Holly Dunn, with hits like "Daddy's Hands" and "You Really Had Me Going," died at age 59.

November 24th- Florence Henderson from "The Brady Bunch" passed away at 82.

November 25th- Cuban dictator Fidel Castro died at the age of 90.

November 25th- Veteran television and film actor known for his Emmy-nominated on the classic cop sitcom Barney Miller, and later Derrial Brook on the cult sci-fi show Firefly, Ron Glass died at age 71.

December 8th- Astronaut and Senator John Glenn died at 95.

December 13th- Alan Thicke from the '80s sitcom Growing Pains died of a heart attack while playing hockey with his 19-year-old son.  He was 69.

December 15th- The longtime TNT sports broadcaster with a passion for colorful attire, Craig Sager, died at age 65.

December 18th- Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hungarian beauty queen-turned-nine-times-married Hollywood icon who once served three days in jail for slapping a cop, died at age 99.

December 25th- Pop heartthrob whose career began with the hit duo Wham! in the 1980s and went on to have a hit solo career beginning with the chart-topping album "Faith," George Michael, died at age 53.

December 26th- Comedian Ricky Harris, who had a recurring role on Chris Rock's Everybody Hates Chris sitcom and voiced several characters that appeared in hip-hop albums, passes away.

December 27th- Writer and actress, Carrie Fisher, 60, best known for her portrayal of  Princess Leia Star Wars, passed away as a result of a heart attack at age 60.

December 28th- Debbie Reynolds, 84, the actress and singer who rose to fame opposite Gene Kelly in Singin' in the Rain, passed away at age 84. One day after the death of her daughter, Carrie Fisher.
