Cockroaches Ready to Save Human Lives!

We think of these little, fast running animals as disgusting, gross germ-carrying bugs, but now they're being elevated to a service that can help save human lives.  Scientists at North Carolina State University have (reportedly) created an electronic backpack that a roach can wear.  Why would anyone want to develop a cockroach backpack?

Natural Gas Energy in Alaskan Ice

Believe it or not!  The U.S. Department of Energy has declared that within the Alaskan ice are pockets of methane hydrate that looks like ice but isn't. The methane hydrate is the main ingredient of natural gas and burns like a candle if its molecules are warmed enough.  Already 1 million cubic feet of methane has been produced.

The Smell of Rotten Eggs: Will It Make You Live Longer?

No, rotten eggs won't make you live longer.  I would never recommend eating one, either.  It's just the smell of rotten eggs, the gas hydrogen sulfide, that may provide you with more years to live.  How's that?  Hydrogen sulfide may activate a gene inside your body's cells that are connected to longevity.

Zero Line Sign on Folsomville Road in Warrick County – What Does It Mean?

I've driven past this sign at least twice a day for years, wondering what the heck it means.  Just by speculation and as an uneducated guess, I thought that it may be the center of the county where the northern half and southern half of Warrick County are divided.  Finally I decided that I would try to find out.  So my first move was to search the Internet, but I kept getting websites I didn't want.  My next step was to call the Warrick County Engineer's Office.

“Stella Awards” Demonstrate Proof of Dysfunction in America

I received an e-mail from an acquaintance of mine who also happens to be a WJLT listener.  Within this e-mail were stories of people who were awarded monetary compensation from the American judicial system.  Before I write any more, I would like to begin by saying/writing that I honestly don't know if these stories are true.  However if they are, our judicial system has become as dysfunctional as our American society has.

A Smile is Contagious No Matter What It’s On, Even on Mulch Man!

Each and every day I'm on the air, I always end my broadcast with a reminder for you to "keep wearing that smile because it's contagious, you know."  It's true!  One of my nicknames here at the station is "Smilin' Dave" because I smile a lot to spread a positive vibe to everyone I meet or see.  It's small but it's powerful.  So every day when I drive home and see this face smiling at me, it reminds me to continue doing what I'm doing.  (He may not be smiling, but I like to think he is!)
