Casinos Could Come Ashore

(Casino Aztar)

The Indiana legislature is considering a bill that would allow casinos to expand on solid ground. The reason for the bill is that riverboats have higher operating costs because of maintaining the boat.

Casino Aztar owns about 20 acres near the boat including the pavilion, a park area, two hotels and “the District.” While Aztar is not making immediate plans for expansion on land, Aztar manager Ward Shaw told the Courier and Press, “At some point it would make sense for us to take advantage of land-based opportunities.”
