Carmelo Anthony has been on an absolute tear lately, the main reason his New York Knicks have now won 10 games in a row. Is he getting closer to winning his first Most Valuable Player award?

On Wednesday night, Anthony and the Knicks beat the Hawks, 95-82. After scoring 50 points the night before, he dropped 40 on an overmatched Atlanta defense.

New York is proving itself a real contender, and a lot of that is thanks to Carmelo Anthony. Right now they are second in the Eastern Conference, behind only the Miami Heat. With the way Anthony is leading the team, they are poised to make a big run in the playoffs—with a half-decent shot at the franchise's first championship since 1973.
