A teenager in India has been accused of throwing a pot of boiling water on a girl’s face after the girl unfriended him on Facebook.

The boy often went to the 15-year-old girl’s home because her father tutored him. On the day in question, he stopped by looking for an ID card he had lost.

When he got to the house, he locked the girl and her mother in a room and then boiled water, which he poured on the victim’s face. She suffered severe burns.

The girl told police she only unfriended the suspect because his behavior changed:

I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then. But of late he had become abusive and so I 'unfriended' him last week."

The boy ran out of the house and has yet to be caught.

This is the latest shocking and violent act surrounding Facebook to come out of India in recent months. Last fall, a 17-year-old girl killed herself after her parents forbid her from using the social networking site.
