If the combination of winter weather and road salt has left your ride’s appearance “less than desireable,” here’s your chance to shine it up and help out a great local cause all in one stop!

Evansville-based Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Ohio Valley are teaming up with the brand new location of Mike’s Car Wash at the intersection of Green River and Vogel Roads all day Friday and Saturday to offer one free Works Wash to anyone who wants it.

Simply stop by on either January 18th and 19th from 7am-9pm to take advantage of this offer. Everyone who participates is encouraged to make a donation that will be split between BBBS and the EVSC Foundation. All donations to BBBS will be used to fund mentoring programs for kids facing adversity. Rarely carry cash? That’s OK. Check donations can be made out to BBBS.

In other Big Brothers Big Sisters news, their first-ever “Man Up for Mentoring” event takes place on Thursday, January 24th from 5:30-7:30pm at the new Tin Man Brewing Company on Franklin Street in Evansville.

According to BBBS Executive Director, Anna Hargis via e-mail, the evening will feature a BBQ dinner of Pulled pork, BBQ beans, smoked mac and cheese, potato salad, cobbler, and a pint of Tin Man’s own brew. Tickets are $30 per individual and must be purchased by January 21st. The evening’s activities will also feature an auction with items such as golf for four at the Victoria National, an Otters party deck for 10, and floor tickets for the UE vs. Creighton men’s basketball game.

The goal of the Man Up for Mentoring program according to Hargis, is to “Help support our mentoring programs and raise awareness about the need for male mentors in our community. There are twice as many women mentoring kids in our community than men! Some young boys have been on our waiting list for over 5 years and their family prefers they be matched with a male mentor”

For a complete list of auction items, more info on Man Up for Mentoring, and to purchase your tickets for the evening, visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ohio Valley website, or call 812-425-6076.
