Over the weekend, a few of my co-workers around the station and I got together at the annual Home Show to participate in the first annual Building Hope Playhouse Build. The task was to build a playhouse over two days that would be auctioned off to raise money for 911 Gives Hope.

It should be mentioned that I am not what you would call a handyman, or handy-anything for that matter, but I can drive a screw, hammer a nail, or as you'll see in the photo gallery below sand the heck out of some drywall. I left the measuring and cutting to our two engineers because I could measure something eight times, and still somehow cut a board too short.

The goal of the house was to make it a miniature replica of our station in downtown Evansville, and while I may be a little bias, I think we did a pretty good job.

The inside features drywall (the only playhouse to do so as far as I know), a replica mixing board designed and created by our Chief Engineer, as well as an actual microphone and stand. It was a ton of work, and made for a long weekend, but we all managed to have a great time, and not get on each other's nerves (not too badly anyway).

Now it's time for it to find a home in someone's backyard so the future radio personalities of the world can start working on their craft. Bidding is underway now through the Courier-Press website, and will continue until April 29th.

Check out a few more photos of the process in the gallery below.
