Jon Prell

I have been at WKDQ for 13 years and have loved every minute of it. My career started in Southern California and I arrived in Evansville in 1994. I have three children that keep me very busy and the rare opportunity to go out and not have a six foot mouse serving your table is a rare and welcome treat. I love motorcycles and classic country and even host the WKDQ Country Classics show every Saturday from 6-10am. If I can I can ever play a song for you, let me know at wkdq.com.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Referenced in the Movie ‘Cars’

One of Lynyrd Skynyrd's most popular songs is 'Free Bird'. Hearing someone scream 'Free Bird' at concert, a ball game or a movie theater has become almost a cult phenomenon. It has also been done many times in movies and my all-time favorite example of this is from the movie 'Cars'.

Why Are Expanded Background Checks for Potential Gun Owners a Bad Thing?

This has been a very difficult week in light of the bombs at the Boston Marathon, the explosion at the fertilizer plant in Waco, TX. and yesterday's defeat in the Senate of a bill that would have expanded background checks to purchase a gun and banned the sale of some semi-automatic weapons like military assault weapons.
