A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about why gas prices are going up and how that would be hitting everyone’s wallet. Now, the cost of men’s favorite meat in the world(!) will be rising, as well. Ask any man what his favorite meat is, and he’ll most likely answer “pork,” or as I like to refer to it, “piggy meat.” Sure I love a good steak, but pork and its various forms have a special place on the menu, especially for guys. Due to a swine virus, prices will be going up for pork. Noooooo!
It's that time again (tick, tock, tick, tock) when we "spring forward" for daylight savings time! Saturday night before you go to bed, move all the clocks ahead one hour so that you're not running behind all day Sunday. Of course, there's bound to be at least one clock that you'll forget to change, which you'll notice in the morning and then panic over before you realize that you forgot to reset it - LOL! So how did all this nonsense begin, anyway?
It's that time of the year again...the time when we all begin celebrating. It's March Madness time, St. Patrick's Day is coming up, Mardi Gras is just around the corner and there are other festivities that typically pop up where drinking is part of the celebrating.
Jenny and I are always very cautious when it comes to eating leftovers or food if its "sell by" date has passed. Why take the chance of getting sick, right? Just the other day I discovered yogurt in the refrigerator that had "expired" according to the date on the box. Even though the yogurt was "unsafe," I ate one anyway and found out that it was just fine. So is the date on the box or bottle the absolute "do not eat" date? For the most part, it's not. Consider this...
I like to drink a glass of wine every now and then, and I typically don't care if it's red, blush, white or whatever. I only care about drinking a semi-sweet wine that I like. After reading the latest information about red wine, however, I may begin making it my wine staple. It seems there are many reasons to enjoy a glass of red wine every day. That's just the news I wanted to hear!
I blogged about this a while back and now it's here. Beginning Saturday, Hoosiers will be in a "permissive dialing" situation, a six-month period where you can still dial the seven-digit numbers you've been dialing, but you should begin dialing the ten-digit (area code + number) to get into the habit. Forcing yourself to dial the ten-digit now will have you ready for the mandatory switch beginning September 6.
It's amazing how this particular day transformed itself into a day for lovers, since the name Valentine, although connected to three different historical saints and martyrdom, is also connected to a tragic event of spilled blood called, the Valentine's Day Massacre which occurred on the streets of Chicago involving the notorious gangster, Al Capone.
This winter's ice and snow affects anyone with kids in the household, plus adults who work in any of the school corporations. Since both of my kids are still in public schools and Jenny teaches in one, we are affected by the snow days that will have to be made up. Interestingly enough, one of the options being offered by the state is a situation I would propose every year to my students in regard to a regular school week. I'll explain more...
I talked to you about this while I was on the air Wednesday afternoon. If you missed hearing me, this is a trap you don't want to be tempted to fall into. It's the latest phone scam and it could easily follow you over the cellular network. the "One Ring" scam is exactly as the name describes. Someone you don't know from an area code you don't recognize will call once and hang up. Why do they do this? To get you to call them back...then they have you!
