Should All-Terrain Vehicles Have More Access to Public Roadways? [Poll]

Recently there's been a push to open up more roads to All-Terrain Vehicles, usually called "four-wheelers."  Yet, studies have shown that ATV accidents on roadways are widespread and have been increasing over the years.  In most states, farmers and others who use ATVs for work already are permitted to use them on public roads. Trail riders are also permitted to cross public roads with them.  So why the push to grant ATVs more public road access?

Longest and Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parades are Part of U.S. History

Here's another piece of trivia about St. Patrick's Day that you may not know.  The United States, specifically Boston, began the tradition of holding a St. Patrick's Day parade before the U.S. Constitution was even thought about.  The first public celebration was held back in 1737!  So you would think, naturally, that the longest parade on record would be in Boston, but it's not.

French Toast Recipe Wakes You Up With Lots of Flavor

Sometimes the most flavorful meals that taste the best are the simplest.  Believe me, Jenny has some more complicated recipes that taste great, but it’s hard to improve on something that tastes great in it’s basic form.  I love having some coffee with Jenny’s French toast.  It’s a perfect combination of flavors!

Alcatraz Really Does Have Tunnels Under It, Just Like in the Move, “The Rock”

I was perusing the move shelves at the end of last week, hoping to find something that my family would enjoy watching together.  I was actually looking for a different movie when I spied, "The Rock," starring Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage and Ed Harris.  "Oh, yeah, I remember that one!" I said to myself.  I knew that Elliot and Emily would enjoy watching it, and they did.  Then I began to think about those tunnels in the movie that supposedly ran beneath Alcatraz.  Could there be any truth to those tunnels?  It appears that the answer is, "Yes."

Debunking Those Rules of Health Myths

For how many years have we been following ideas we thought were "healthy?"  It seems that every so often, some new piece of information comes out to tell us all what we should be doing to stay healthy.  Then later we find out that what we thought was truth is fabrication.  For example, how long have we heard that sugar makes children hyper?  The idea spread like wildfire, but it's not true.

Plants and Poisons are Pet Dangers Lurking in Your Yard

As the weather gets better and the temperature warms up, the urge within us to spend more time outside grows stronger.  We're not the only creatures that will spend more time outside.  Our dogs will, too.  So we all should keep our canine friends in mind as we begin to decorate the yard this springtime with a few more plants.  It's not just the plants that may cause pet problems, it's also the "stuff" that helps the plants grow that can be dangerous to your dog.

Lasagna Minis Recipe Makes the Same Old Lasagna More Fun to Eat!

Lasagna is one of my favorite dishes and I could eat it every day, but lasagna looks like lasagna and it doesn't have "fun" attached to it's appearance.  Jenny decided to disprove that notion by making lasagna minis.  Okay, they still looked like lasagna, but they were kind of cute, I guess.  They tasted good, too, just like regular lasagna, but they looked like, as Elliot described them, "Meat cupcakes."  Hmmm.  Here's how to fix them...

My Pet Peeve is the Pothole Problem in Evansville, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties

Okay...I've hit enough potholes lately to scrape off half my tire treads, wear out my shocks and throw my wheels out of alignment - enough already!  I'm getting quite peeved about the potholes I have to dodge every day as I drive to work and home again.  I'm glad to know that the pothole patrols are getting out to the streets and I have to tell you, they can't get these dang blasted potholes filled soon enough!

Getting Ripped-Off at the Supermarket

We can all expect to pay more for convenience, but sometimes what we pay far exceeds the value of the convenience.  There's no better place to see this happening than at your local supermarket.  Most of the time, the rip-offs have something directly to do with the way products are packaged.  I've seen them with my own eyes and have fallen victim to them, just like you.  Let me give you some things to think about so that the next time you're shopping, you can reflect on the money you're probably wasting.
