There are lots of important events coming up in Evansville, and we had the chance to shed some light on two of them this morning on Wednesdays With Winnecke. First we discussed the Global Youth Service Day with Clean Evansville. We then talked about the 5th annual Homeless Connect Project happening this Thursday.
Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop event sponsored by community leaders and designed to provide various services and hospitality in a convenient one-stop model directly to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke encourages Evansville residents to attend a public hearing next week to learn about changes to the 812 area code. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) will host the local hearing Tuesday, March 19th, at 6pm at Washington Middle School, 1801 Washington Ave.
The next Energize Evansville "Fitness in the Park" event is this Saturday, March 19th from 9am-11am at the Swonder Ice Arena Fitness Center.
Meth production and use is an ongoing problem that isn't slowing down...in fact, the number of meth labs seem to be growing each year. But we're not giving up. Mayor Winnecke's No Meth Task Force and the EPD's Meth Suppression Unit are working harder than ever.

Moody’s Investors Service today reaffirmed the “Aa3” bond rating on the City of Evansville’s Redevelopment Authority Lease Rental Revenue Bonds. “Aa” rating means Moody’s has judged the city’s financial obligations “to be of high quality and are subject to very low credit risk.”

The Evansville Water & Sewer Utility announces that Heavy Trash Pick-up will begin on Monday, March 4th, and is scheduled to run through Friday, May 3rd. This semi-annual curbside service is available to City residents who pay for trash service with their water bill, including newly-annexed areas.
More than 100 people will join Mayor Lloyd Winnecke picking-up litter on Saturday, March 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. along the South Green River Road corridor and around Harrison High School.
