East Coast Rocked by Earthquake, Pentagon Evacuated
An earthquake epicentered in Virginia occurred Tuesday afternoon, with people in Washington, DC, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Toronto reporting they felt the tremors, as well.
Reports thus far indicate the quake registered a 5.9 on the Richter scale.

Leading Doctor Recommends Obese Children Be Taken From Their Parents
A doctor has proposed putting severely obese children in temporary foster homes.
Dr. David Ludwig, an obesity specialist at Harvard-affiliated Children's Hospital Boston, made this recommendation Wednesday in highly respected 'Journal of the American Medical Association.'

Netflix Customers Upset About Drastic Price Hikes
DVD-by-mail and digital streaming service Netflix has announced a new pricing structure, and its customers are doing the metaphorical version of booing and throwing popcorn at the screen.
People who currently pay $10 for one DVD per month plus unlimited digital streaming will see rates jump to $16, while those who get two DVDs plus streaming will have a new rate of $20, up from $15. The price increases take effect September 1 for existing customers. New subscribers will pay the new prices immediately upon sign-up.

Widow of Fallen Texas Rangers Fan Thanks Team for Their Support and Compassion [VIDEO]
In her first public statement regarding the tragedy, Jenny Stone, the widow of the firefighter who fell to his death at a Texas Rangers game last week, thanked the Rangers organization, and said that Rangers star Josh Hamiliton remains her son's favorite player.
Her husband, Shannon Stone, who was attending the game with their six-year old son Cooper, was trying to catch a ball tossed to him by Hamilton when he tumbled over the railing at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Connecticut Becomes First State to Mandate Paid Sick Time
In a move watched carefully by some 20 cities and states, Connecticut has become the first state in the nation to mandate paid sick days for workers.
The bill, signed by Governor Dannel Malloy earlier this month, covers only hourly service workers at companies with more than 50 employees and excludes manufacturers and some others.
