‘Arrow’ Preview: “Trust But Verify” Sends Oliver Queen Back to the Island
As much as we've enjoyed the action in Starling City, and look forward to 'Arrow's January 16 return episode "Burned," there's no denying that the last few episodes have veered away from showcasing Olvier Queen (Stephen Amell)'s time on the mysterious island that forged him into the living weapon we've come to know. That all changes with January 23 episode "Trust But Verify," which will introduce yet another DC character in Ted Gaynor (Ben Browder) while Oliver remembers a key event from his island past. Even though Oliver Queen has a whole lot of fight coming his way from foes like Firefly, Count Vertigo, The Dodger, Roy Harper, and Deathstroke., the Starling City vigilante's remembrance of his island past is far from over. January 23 episode "Trust But Verify" will see Oliver once again confronted with issues from his past, while in the present he and Diggle (David Ramsay) have a conflict over the appearance of Diggle's past commanding officer Ted Gaynor.
From The CW's official press release:
The next person on Arrow’s list is Diggle’s commanding officer and mentor from Afghanistan, Ted Gaynor (guest star Ben Browder).
Oliver suspects Ted is responsible for recent armored truck robberies, but Diggle defends Ted and takes a job at Ted’s security company to keep an eye on him. Oliver decides to make a move on Ted, which puts him at odds with Diggle.
Meanwhile, Thea ) suspects that Moira is having an affair with Malcolm. Tommy and Laurel have an awkward dinner with Malcolm.
Will Oliver and Diggle be able to remain partners after being put at odds? Will Thea discover Malcolm's much more nefarious secret of being the "Dark Archer?" Will poor Tommy ever catch a break? And where's Edward Fyers black and orange-garbed friend during Oliver's flashback?
