Earlier this week we told you about Fashion Bug’s plans to close its doors.  Well, there’s been a little bit of a change there, but its only a slight change.

Ascena Retail Group, which recently acquired Charming Shoppes, which owned Fashion Bug stores and website, was able to secure a liquidation group this week.

Because of that, Fashion Bug stores are able to stay open for a few months to liquidate their inventory.  The stores in Evansville and the surrounding area will be open until January at the latest.  However, plans to shut the Fashion Bug website down on Tuesday won’t be changed.

With the liquidation in place, all sales are final at Fashion Bug stores and online at Fashionbug.com (what you can manage to buy before Tuesday, that is)  This, quite frankly, is the worst part about the closing of the Fashion Bug chain (among many)

You see, with Fashion Bug if you bought something and didn’t like it once you got it home, you could bring it back to the store and exchange it for something else.  Or if you ordered something online you could have it shipped to the store (avoiding the shipping charge) and if you didn’t like it once it got there you could pick something else out, whether it be in the store or online.  Fashion Bug is/was AWESOME!  And the price of the clothes was the BEST PART!  The Fashion Bug Clearance Rack COULD NOT BE BEAT!

Rumor has it Catherine’s will be making changes to pick up the slack left by the demise of Fashion Bug.  I certainly hope some retailer fills in what will certainly be a gaping retail hole.
