Every 98 seconds an American is sexually assaulted and every 8 seconds that victim is a child.  In order to shed light on the realities of sexual violence throughout our country, 17 years ago Sexual Assault Awareness Month was established for the month of April.  Although one month is not enough to solve the widespread issue of sexual violence, the goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is to engage new voices and to enhance prevention efforts throughout the remainder of the year.  The theme for the 17th anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is “Embrace Your Voice” to inform individuals on how they can use their words to promote safety, respect, and equality to stop sexual violence before it happens.

Embrace your voice this April by joining Albion for our Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events. Our events include Walk a Mile in Her Shoes (April 10th), Responding to Child Sexual Abuse: Advice from Child Molesters (April 19th or 20th), and Take Back the Night (April 26th).  Sexual Assault Awareness Month is a chance for our community to come together to make a change.   Embrace your voice because your voice has power.
