I used to drink Pepsi, regular sugar-filled Pepsi, all the time; from the time I was a young child to my 30's.  Then I became more health conscious and began drinking diet sodas.  In this way I've been a typical American consumer.  Over the past decade, though, diet soda drinking by the American public has been in a type of free-fall and this is of great concern to major industry players like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Inc. and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc.  So, why is this happening?

Americans are more concerned about aspartame and other artificial sweeteners being too unhealthy to ingest.  On the other hand, it appears that sports drinks, caffeinated energy drinks and coffee consuming is up.  Personally, I must admit that I enjoy my coffee, unsweetened tea and good old fashioned water, but I still enjoy a frosty diet Coke or diet root beer.   How about you?  Please answer the poll:
