The Growth Alliance for a Greater Evansville (GAGE) will host a few more "information sessions" for residents looking to become Uber drivers this Wednesday and Thursday.

One of the more exciting stories in the Tri-State near the end of last year was the announcement that Evansville would become the fourth city in the state of Indiana to offer Uber car service, the popular car-sharing service where everyday residents can pick up some extra money by using their own vehicle as a taxi.

The next round of information sessions are scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday, January 18th and 19th at Innovation Pointe (the location of the GAGE office), USI, and UE at the following times:

January 18th

  • 10 AM – 11 AM
  • Innovation Pointe, 318 Main St, Evansville, IN 47708 (first floor)
  • 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
  • University of Southern Indiana, 8600 University Blvd, Evansville, IN 47712
    University Center: UC 226-227

January 19th

  • 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
  • University of Evansville, 1800 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714
Schroeder School of Business: Harkness Hall

The sessions will cover a number of topic in relation to the company and how residents can become involved, including:

  • How the Uber partnership works
  • How to use the Uber Driver app and upload the required documents
  • How to get paid and how often
  • Open question and answer session

Uber will also be offering open office hours for drivers who may have additional questions at Innovation Pointe on January 18th from Noon until 4:00 p.m., and January 19th at the Harlaxton Room in the Schroeder School of Business on the UE campus from Noon until 4:00 p.m.

According to a press release provided by GAGE, those interested in becoming a driver need to bring their driver's license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance to fill out the required Driver Profile. Those not able to attend any of the information sessions can complete the Profile through the Uber Partners website (account setup required).
