The Tri-State is currently in the middle of weather system that, when all is said and done, will dump several inches of rain across the area. Several roads across the Tri-State are already closed thanks to the first round of rain and rising river levels, and more will likely be added to the list in the coming days. But, as tempting as it may be to drive through what appears to be a small amount of water stretching its way across the road you're travelling on, the Indiana Department of Transportation reminds you it doesn't take much to ruin your drive.

The Department tweeted out these three facts on earlier this week:

It seems hard to believe that just one foot of water would be enough to carry a thousand pound vehicle off the road, but water, as innocent as it can appear at times, is a powerful force to be reckoned with in large amounts, so play it safe and find an alternate route if you come upon a road covered in flood water.
