In honor of the nationally recognized shelter dog Ned, that found his forever home after 837 long days at It Takes a Village Canine Rescue Shelter in Evansville, IN, we wanted to spread the love this holiday season and bring you the 12 dogs of Christmas! All of these dogs desperately need a home!

About Smokey

Our male Boxer, Smokey, is searching for an experienced pack leader in his forever him. He is believed to be a full-blooded Boxer. Smokey loves toys, and particularly loves balls. Grab a ball to play with and Smokey will be your new best friend. In fact, when Smokey goes on walks, he loves to carry a ball or toy with him! Smokey also loves to give and receive affection from his person. This strong and higher energy guy weighs just under 60 pounds. He is about 1.5 years old as of December 2016. Smokey walks well on a leash as long as he is being controlled by a confident leader. Smokey is kennel trained. He will do best in a home without children or other dogs. Smokey is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and heartworm tested.
