12 Shelter Dogs of Christmas – Ace [Shepherd Mix]

In honor of the nationally recognized shelter dog Ned, that found his forever home after 837 long days at It Takes a Village Canine Rescue Shelter in Evansville, IN, we wanted to spread the love this holiday season and bring you the 12 dogs of Christmas! All of these dogs desperately need a home!

Many dogs have an adoption fee of only $25 until the end of December and several more are sponsored! All the adoptable dogs are posted online at ITVrescue.org.

Ace

Some dogs have a trick or two up their paws. Our Ace has quite a few! He's a 3 year old Shepherd Mix and is as smart as a tack. He has a very outgoing personality that is one of a kind. Ace gets very excited when he knows he is going for a walk or run, so would be a great fit for an active person. He does very well on a leash. He also loves running next to a bike. Ace loves to chew on any type of bone and play with any toy that makes noise. He loves to do tricks to earn his treats. Ace knows how to sit, lay down, leave it, stay, shake and high five. He is house-trained and kennel-trained. Our dashing fella can be a nervous guy until he is comfortable with his handler. Who can blame him? Ace thought he had the winning hand in his last home. Unfortunately, his family could no longer care for him because they were having a baby, so we are now accepting applications at ITVRescue.org for his last forever home. Ace will likely do best in a home with an experienced handler who can work with him. While he does play with other dogs, he can be dominant in play so will need to either be an only dog or have a strong, experienced pack leader. Anyone who is willing to let our handsome guy set the pace that he is content with, will find a true winner in Ace. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Ace is truly a diamond in the rough waiting for a patient but strong leader to polish him into the gem he truly is.
